About Maddy
I am an artist working out of my studio in Los Altos, CA. I describe myself as a painter using acrylic paints and mixed media creating depth, texture and transparency with my images. Sometimes I use ink and oil pastels as well. Lately I have been painting on large plywood boards. I also paint on canvas, paper and other surfaces. I studied art and graphic design at UC Davis. I was inspired in my high school days by Corita Kent, a screen printer from the 60s. All my life I have been drawn to art, with crayons, pencils, scissors, magazines and glue. I make art when I am inspired by one thing or another in my physical, visual, and dreaming environments. I am now a new grandma and hope to continue to make art as long as I am able.
I also started a nonprofit with my friend called Arts Los Altos. We install public art installations with private funding on private, commercial property in downtown Los Altos. We are a team of six volunteers. You can learn more about our work at www.artslosaltos.org
Besides painting and volunteering, I like to meditate, bicycle on my electric bike, practice yoga, take walks in nature, and go to museums and shows in San Francisco. Spending time with my husband, daughters, and grandson brings me great joy.
